TrustMark Registered Business

What is TrustMark?
TrustMark is the Government Endorsed Quality Scheme that covers work a consumer chooses to have carried out in or around their home. It is a not-for-profit organisation, started in 2005, that aims to raise standards and help homeowners choose a trusted tradesperson. It covers many trades, and pest control businesses can now join through an approved scheme provider.
What does registration require?
A business can only be TrustMark registered through one of TrustMark’s approved Scheme Providers. For pest control, the scheme providers are the British Pest Control Association (BPCA) and the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA), which assess and monitor the businesses they register.
Registered businesses agree to the TrustMark Code of Conduct, which covers:
- how they deal with their Scheme Provider, including ongoing checks
- how they treat customers, with clear and fair communication at each stage of the job
- keeping to the laws that protect consumers
- keeping insurance policies up to date
The Code also includes a Customer Charter that explains what you have a right to expect when you use a TrustMark registered business.
What it means for you
When you choose a TrustMark registered business, you are using a company that has been vetted to meet required standards and has made a commitment to good customer service and fair trading. It is particularly reassuring for jobs in and around your home, where you want to know who you are dealing with and what happens if something goes wrong.
How to check
Search TrustMark’s public directory at trustmark.org.uk/find-a-tradesperson to check that a business is registered, and make sure they are registered for the trade you need. You can find out more about the scheme at trustmark.org.uk.
